Sweet Girl

Marlie is very loving and affectionate but she is still able to suprise me sometimes with how sweet she can be.
Bryan started Air Assault school yesterday so he was gone long before we got up in the morning. He typically gets Marlie from her crib when she wakes up. Even though I got her up, she expected him to be home soon. I explained that Daddy was at work and wouldn't be home until after her nap. She then pointed at her daddy doll across the room and asked me to get it for her. She and I went and got in mine and Bryan's bed to watch a little bit of tv. As soon as I sat her down, she placed her daddy doll right beside her on Bryan's pillow. I was so suprised that she did that and thought it was so sweet that she wanted her Daddy there with us even though he couldn't be in person. Of course by the time I got the camera, she had to bust out her silly 'cheese'!

Buffalo Chicken Pizza

Bryan and I both enjoy cooking, and we love trying new recipes. For a while now, I have been meaning to start posting recipes that we have tried & really liked. Recently I promised a friend that I would finally get around to doing that. This recipe came from Family Circle magazine. Bryan LOVES buffalo chicken so I knew this was a recipe we had to try.
A few tips from my experience making this pizza:

*Baking chicken is my preferred method of cooking it so I did that rather than following step #1.
*I'm very liberal with the cheese! If you're like me, plan on using more than 1 cup.
*I'm not into buffalo chicken so I substituted barbeque sauce for hot sauce and ranch dressing for bleu cheese in my pizza.

Both versions are great and really easy. Enjoy!

Buffalo Chicken Pizza
12 slices
Prep: 10 minutes
Bake: 10 minutes
Cook: 8 minutes

Ingredients
2 pounds chicken tenders
1/3 cup Frank's hot sauce
1/4 cup chicken broth
2 thin crust Boboli (10 ounces each)
2/3 cup reduced-fat blue cheese dressing
1 cup shredded part skim mozzarella
4 celery ribs, cut into 2-inch pieces

Directions
1. Heat oven to 450°F.
2. Place chicken tenders in a large skillet and add cold water to cover. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer gently for 8 minutes or until chicken's internal temperature reaches 160°F on an instant-read thermometer. Remove from skillet and slice into long strips.
3. In a large bowl, mix together the hot sauce and broth. Add the chicken strips and toss to coat with the broth mixture.
4. Place a pizza crust on a baking sheet and spread with 1/3 cup of the dressing. Scatter half of the chicken over the dressing and half of the shredded mozzarella cheese. Drizzle some of the broth mixture over top. Repeat with remaining pizza crust, dressing, chicken and mozzarella.
5. Bake pizzas at 450°F for 10 minutes or until crusts are lightly browned and the cheese is bubbly. Remove from oven and scatter celery over pizzas. Serve with a tossed salad and extra hot sauce on the side, if desired.

Traveling to the Beach

We left our house late afternoon on Friday to drive the first leg of our trip. Around midnight we arrived in Enterprise, AL to stay with Vince, Erin & Ava. We really enjoyed spending the day with them on Saturday, and Marlie had a great time with 'Baby Ava'. We greatly appreciated the chance to make a little pit stop with them!

6 Year Anniversary!

Before I post about our vacation, I have to mention that Sunday was mine & Bryan's sixth wedding anniversary! We didn't do anything exciting that day since we had just returned from our trip. It was so great just to be together though, since last year we were separated by another deployment. We look forward to many more happy years together!

We're Ready for a Vacation!

We had a great time last weekend celebrating Indepence Day. There is a celebration on post called Freedom Fest and it kicked off on Thursday. They had carnival rides set up so we took Marlie over to try the rides after dinner. She was only big enough for a few rides but those were enough to thrill her.

Bryan had Friday off so we went to the Nashville Zoo for their Red, White & Zoo! celebration. Marlie always has such a great time when we go there. By now she somewhat knows her way around and where to find what animals.
On Saturday, we enjoyed a relaxing morning at one of the pools here on post. We figured it would probably be busy because of the holiday, but it was actually the opposite. There weren't many people swimming at all so we were able to really enjoy ourselves. That evening we went to a cookout at our neighbors' house. We were able to eat, but storms soon rolled in and cancelled most of the festivities for the night.
Sunday morning was spent at church. That evening we went over to the home of some of our friends for dinner. The weather was a little better that night so Marlie was excited to see a few fireworks on our way back home.
Monday morning we made a trip back to the water park. Once again we expected it to be busy because the soldiers had the day off. However, when we pulled up I wondered if the park was closed because it was so empty. Marlie pretty much had the run of the park for a while and had a great time. Our weekend was a busy one, but we love to have as much family fun together as we can!

Splashing the surface

Tuesday was when the real excitement began though...
Our laptop has had battery problems so it has been out of commission for a while. We've had our desktop for almost 6 years and it has been a great computer but has started having problems. That afternoon I decided to restart it and could not get it to come back on. When M woke up from her nap I took both computers to a local repair shop. Their initial assessment was that both problems seemed to be easy fixes so I was really pleased to hear that. Yesterday morning the store owner called to let me know that the desktop had officially bitten the dust. I was disappointed but was hopeful that the laptop could get us by until we were able to buy a new main computer. The owner called me back yesterday afternoon and said they were also unable to repair the laptop! That was not what I wanted to hear! We use our computer frequently so we knew we would need to go ahead and buy another one. I am the kind of person who typically likes to do a lot of research before making such a big purchase, but we pretty much had to wing this one! Many people recommended that we go with a Mac and that's what we ended up getting. We now own a MacBook. I am still trying to get adjusted to it, but so far, so good.
We are preparing to go on a long vacation to the beach and after the past few days - I'm looking forward to it!

Crochet Baby Bib

I needed a quick and easy project to stock on the congo for this month. This bib turned out to be just the right thing. I'm really anxious to knit some shorts/capris/pants now - I've just got to work up the courage to attempt them! My congo mates stocked some really cute things today. Check out the store at:
