The Girls Go To Georgia

I haven't really been in the mood to blog lately, but I guess I should try to catch up on what we've been doing.
Last Thursday Marlie & I made the trip to Georgia. That's the first time just the 2 of us have made the drive. She did very well but we spent most of the day driving in rain. That was not fun! We went to Georgia to watch 3 of my sister's softball games. The first one was supposed to be on Thursday afternoon, but it was rained out.
On Friday night, my parents, Marlie & I went to the restaurant where my brother works for dinner. We had a great dinner and M enjoyed being doted on by uncle Jared. After dinner we stopped by a small fair that was set up outside the mall. It isn't often that I let M stay up past her bedtime. However, she & her nana were just too excited about the rides.

On Saturday morning, my mom took M to visit with my great aunt. That evening we went over to our family friends house to eat and watch the UGA game.
On Sunday we went to our home church and I think Marlie was thrown off by having the nursery to herself. There is always a crowd at the church here!
Monday morning M visited with Bryan's family for most of the morning. She must have had a lot of fun because she was worn out by naptime! Monday afternoon was supposed to be my sister's next softball game but it was rained out too!
Tuesday afternoon we finally saw a little bit of softball! I wish I could have seen more of my sister's senior season, but Mother Nature just didn't want to cooperate.
We came back to Campbell on Wednesday. Bryan wasn't sure what to do with himself in our empty house for a week so he was glad to have us back. We were very happy to be back in our element too!

On Thursday morning, M & I went to MOPS. I am still new to the group but I enjoy it so much. I had to take a brunch item and was suprised that my Cream Cheese Danish was chosen as the best dish! I've had a few people ask for the recipe so I will post it soon.

It's the weekend again so that means a lot of fun for us! I'm sure we'll stay busy but we're looking forward to it!

Help for Adam & family

I received this earlier from some friends who have been with Adam and his family at the hospital. If anyone who reads this would like to contribute, I will be glad to add your item to our package when we mail it (I'll be in Georgia later this week) or give you any information you may need to donate to them.

----

Thank you all for the continued outpouring of love and caring for Adam, Carrie and the family. Carrie and the family have expressed their sincerest gratitude towards everyone. Many of you have asked how you can help, and unfortunately, not many of us are in close proximity to DC. They wouldn't ask anyone for anything. So we are going to do it on their behalf (maybe they shouldn't have given us access :). Adam cannot receive flowers or anything to put in his room while he is in ICU and Carrie won't have room in her small hotel accommodations.

We have put together a list of things we know the family will need or enjoy while in Bethesda. These items will go a long way towards helping the family with necessities and some comforts they would certainly enjoy.

· Gift Cards to places close to the hospital:

o Target

o Whole Foods

o Babies R us

o Starbucks

o CVS

o Apple iTunes

o Dunkin Donuts

* Airline buddy passes or skymiles

*Carrie is also employed by the federal government and any donated leave from GS/Federal employees to Carrie's leave account would be a blessing.

Another Prayer Request

It is usually my preference not to share other people's personal information on my blog without their permission. However, this has been heavy on our hearts for a few days and I would like to post this so that others can pray along with us. Out of respect for this person and his family, I'm going into as little detail as possible.
Our friend, Adam, was injured in Afghanistan a few days ago. It is a serious injury and we are still waiting to find out what the effects are going to be. He is going to be arriving in the states tomorrow(Friday) and will be evaluated again then. In addition to Adam, please keep his wife and baby in your prayers.

Marlie's Yo Gabba Gabba Birthday Party

On Sunday we had the opportunity to celebrate Marlie's 2nd birthday with our family in Georgia. The theme for this party was Yo Gabba Gabba, which has been M's first favorite childrens' tv show. Our friend, Diana, did an amazing job with Marlie's first birthday cake so I definitely wanted her to make the cake for this party too. She did not disappoint!
Marlie had so much fun with our family and was more than happy to be the center of attention! Once again, we are thankful to our family for celebrating with us.

Free Food from Schwan's

America's largest home food delivery company is giving free food to the first 500,000 new customers.

http://www.schwans.com/promos/freefood/freeFoodBegin.aspx

I ordered the Cheesy Quik Taters last night and they were delivered this morning! The delivery man of course asked if I would like anything else. I said no and he just let me know what day he is usually in our neighborhood if I would like to place another order in the future. It was as easy as that! No money ever exchanged hands and we have cheesy tots in our freezer now!

One Birthday Party Down!

Saturday afternoon was the first of Marlie's 2 birthday parties. She is always a great napper but I guess she was too excited about her party. She spent most of the afternoon in her crib talking to herself and never fell asleep! That alone had me stressed out by party time.
Marlie was so happy to have all her favorite friends over! They played outside and in our little pool. We grilled some hamburgers and hotdogs and had a few sides. I made a butterfly birthday cake and ladybug cupcakes. Even though Marlie was surviving on adrenaline, we all had a great time. We really appreciate all of our friends that came to celebrate Marlie's 2nd birthday with us!
My friend Kelly made these cute invitations for us

Here is the surprise guest of the party! This picture makes it look bigger than it was, but a tiny baby bunny hopped through our fence. Our 4 year old neighbor, Hunter (ironic name, huh?) just picked it right up! After much debate and some children who begged their parents for a new pet, we released the bunny back into the "wild". He was definitely an exciting finale for the party though!
