2010 Country Music Marathon & Half-Marathon

This weekend was awesome! After a minor setback on Friday afternoon, Holly, Corey & I hit the road to go to Nashville. Before we left Holly's house, we took this picture & her daughter decided to sneak in.

We went straight to the CMM Expo where we picked up our race packets. We should have been crossing the street here in downtown Nashville rather than taking a picture!

After we left the expo we went to find our hotel and somewhere to eat dinner. After dinner we went back to our hotel to prepare for the next morning. We attempted to go to bed a little early because we were waking up at 4am! I can't tell you the last time I saw 4am! We really needed more sleep but were so excited!

I "borrowed" the next few pictures from the race photography company. This was somewhere between 6 & 630am in the port-a-potty line!

These were taken in the last mile of the race when I was REALLY trying to beat 2:38.

My chip time was actually 2:39 (Not the 3:24 clock you see in the picture). I was hoping to run a little faster, but I had so much fun that it's ok. Maybe it was that swig of beer I took at mile 11 that slowed me down? ;)

My legs were in A LOT of pain at this point! I needed to stretch bad but we were still in the finish area here and going through lines.

Bryan & Marlie came to meet up with us after the race. Bryan took this picture and then the rain we had been afraid of all morning started. We were drenched walking to the car, but I'm so thankful I didn't have to run in the rain for 2 hours!
Notice M sneaking in the picture like Holly's daughter did in the first one?

We had so much fun this weekend and I'm already looking forward to my next race. I'm even toying with the idea of running a full marathon for my 30th birthday in December!

My last training run was supposed to be this morning, but because I had MOPS today, I ran last night. I have officially completed training for the Country Music Half-Marathon. I have run over 160 miles over the past few months. The race is on Saturday morning at 7am, and I'm excited but also very nervous! It doesn't help that the forecast is calling for thunderstorms!
Please pray for me and that the weather stays decent!

Archangels on Facebook

We have created a Facebook page for the unit that Bryan is the commander of and I am the FRG leader for. For obvious reasons, no sensitive information will be posted on the page, but if you would like to see what we're up to - become a Fan/Like it!

First School Pictures

M & I have stayed pretty busy recently, although we haven't done anything terribly exciting. I had my last long training run on Friday (14 miles) and I'm so glad that's behind me!
On Saturday morning we attended Chelsea's bridal shower. (Chelsea is our babysitter and M is going to be one of her flowergirls.) I was hesitant about taking M but she did well. Most of the guests were Chelsea's sorority sisters and they seemed to enjoy interacting with M.
Sunday morning we went to church and by the time we got there I was ready for a break! Our worship service is at 9:30 but M had already been such a challenge that morning. She was in a much better mood by the time I picked her up. Praise the Lord!
Monday morning we had our 2nd week of swim lessons. The biggest accomplishment of the morning wasn't in the water though. After the lesson when we were changing into our dry clothes, I asked M if she would like to use the potty and she agreed. Sure enough, we went in the stall and she used the big potty. This was huge! Although she has been making great progress at home, she has not felt comfortable using a potty outside our house - even at her preschool. As you can imagine, we were having quite a celebration in the locker room at the YMCA!
Yesterday morning M's class had Muffins with Mom. The moms were invited to come and enjoy snack time with the children. I sat with M & her friend (whose mom couldn't make it). We enjoyed scones and then played together in the classroom. I also got to see M's first school pictures. Here's a peek at them. Of course I'm partial, but I think they're pretty cute!

Spring Break

Marlie is on spring break this week so we took a trip to the zoo on Tuesday. Our neighbors joined us, so my friend & I had 4 little girls between us. I thought a weekday morning would be a nice time to visit the zoo, but I think every school in Nashville must have been on a field trip there. After seeing the animals the girls were excited to play on the Jungle Gym. Here are Marlie & Kaylee wearing themselves out!

That night when I was rocking Marlie before bedtime, she said the sweetest thing: "I had good day with my friends. You're best mommy." That just melted my heart! These days when Bryan is gone and I'm a "single" parent can get very challenging. Hearing words like that though make it all worth it!

Easter Weekend

Bryan had another long weekend for Easter so we enjoyed getting to spend 4 days together again. Friday morning I needed to do a 5 mile run so we went to check out the Clarksville Greenway. Here is an excerpt from an article that describes the Greenway better than I can:
The Clarksville Greenway extends 3.6 miles and is expected to grow in the future. The trail, which follows the path of old railway beds, has been paved and a grassy shoulder now lines the path. The trail is open to walkers, runners and bike riders. Families looking for leisure can also enjoy the new Greenway by using the benches, picnic tables and swings on the pathway.
We took Marlie's tricycle and she and Bryan enjoyed wandering around while I ran.
We had hoped to go to the Nashville Zoo's EggstravaganZoo on Saturday, but the weather wasn't very encouraging. We decided to go ahead to Nashville, but went to the mall instead. Marlie & I dyed eggs on Saturday afternoon but I forgot to take pictures! We had fun but made a mess!
Sunday morning we put on our Sunday best and went to church. Afterwards M requested that we go to a restaurant, so we enjoyed an early lunch outside on the deck at Rafferty's. Here are some pictures we took after we got home from church.
M got some new sunglasses in her Easter basket

Unfortunately we couldn't get a family picture together so Bryan & I each took a picture with M.

M & her basket

We had a back yard egg hunt with some neighbors and M enjoyed eating her candy afterwards.

On Monday morning, M had her first swim lesson of the year. I wasn't crazy about her lessons last year, so we are trying the YMCA this time. Hopefully she'll learn a little more. She was definitely comfortable in the water!

Singing a song

Look at that kicking!

Hello Spring!

Last weekend we went to Georgia since Bryan was off on both Monday & Tuesday. We arrived late Friday night/Saturday morning and got a little sleep before our busy weekend began. On Saturday morning we went to Athens for my sorority's Alumni Easter Egg Hunt. It was great to see some friends that I haven't seen since college. It was even more fun to meet everyone's children.
The other big event of the weekend was watching my little sister in her school production of All Shook Up. It was her final school musical and she was great! I can't believe that the next time we go home, it will be to watch her graduate from high school!
Here are pictures from the Easter Egg Hunt.
Our little rockstar.

Meeting the bunny!

We were all surprised she had such a good experience.

My silly Gamma Phi Beta legacy and me!

She enjoyed the Dora Easter cupcakes they had for the children.

Goodbye Winter!

I'm behind on posting what we've been up to, so I'll do a quick catch up.
I've been stuck on the same knitting project for a while, so I decided to work on another quick project. This potato chip scarf was quick & easy! Now if only I could get unstuck on the pants I've been working on forever!

On St Patrick's Day our neighbors came over to play. They brought some supplies for making hats, and the girls had a great time doing that! Here's Abigail, M & Kaylee showing off their creations.

A couple of weeks ago we had our neighborhood ladies game night. Melissa (the hostess) decided it should be 80s themed and she did a great job putting it together.

Some of our little neighbor friends are in the middle of their recreation soccer season. We went to watch a couple of games and M had a great time cheering on her friends! (She's not old enough to play yet.)
